Still like looking at this one Douglas. Mars before it was ruined when the Fallen were chased off it...lol. I am going to post one of my planet ones soon just for you. I did several years ago.

And thank you very much for your nice words. I cannot, at this time, afford to have my paintings scanned in professionally, but I do plan on the near future, to do so. That way, my paintings should look much better. I have the desire to paint another watercolor very soon--hopefully, within the next month or two. A lot of my time is spent writing, but my paintings feel just as important. I'm far from through painting! In the mean time, keep up YOUR great works, because I look forward to seeing them, and hopefully, one day soon, to buy a beautiful print from you!

Thanks you so much for being my number 1 fan and taking the time with all the wonderful comments. I want you to know that I am a fan of yours also, although not nearly as good because I am too lazy to sign in sometimes and comment and reply. How did I miss this one above? I really like the colors and the saturation...have you started enhancing them after you get them in? It looks great.

Artist's Description

I painted this watercolor in 2000 when I was thinking of other planets. I focused my attention on Mars. It was my contention that Mars, at one time in the past, did support some type of microbial and plant life. However, do to its internal structure, its hot molten core cooled sooner than expected, for some unknown reasons, which today scientists still dont understand. As its core cooled, it in turn lost its magnetic field which allowed the suns solar wind to blow away its atmosphere. In doing so, Mars lost its grip on life as the waters evaporated into outer space. Needless to say, that planet was doomed to lose any ability to support any life as we know it.

About Douglas Beatenhead

Douglas Beatenhead

My name is Douglas Deleath Beatenhead, and I was born on May 30th, in the year of 1952. The images you see are from decades of work. For the last twenty or thirty years of my life this is what I have created. I became interested in watercolors since I was very young. Now I'm beginning to find an interest in Acrylics too. I try very hard to put action and moods in my paintings. I also love to work with a lot of colors, and I try to make them deep and rich. Every painting I do takes days to arrive at a level of my satisfaction. It has become apparent to me that my paintings appear strange and different from many other watercolor works I've seen. I like to concentrate on new and different images that inspire intelligent and creative...
